Dr. Peter Bertucci, or "Doc," for short, has been at the Red Raider wrestling helm for the past two seasons and has compiled a 17-20-1 record, with last year's mark a substantial improvement over the season before - this season promises to be nothing short of another banner year for the Red & White matmen under Bertucci's tutelage.
A former high school wrestler and a varsity football fullback for the Boston Latin school in Boston, Bertucci is a respected member of the Barnstable High School special education teaching staff as well is its coaching corps. He was formerly with the Sandwich Public School system prior to his arrival at BHS and is a resident of Marstons Mills and for many years was a volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Though he hasn’t wrestled since his days at Boston Latin High School, Bertucci has more recently been a first-class competitor in the Judo world, earning top 10 finishes in events such as the 2008 Ocean State Internationals and the 2009 Pan Am Masters Championships. At one time he trained with Olympic-level Judo competitors. |
