Henson, Botello Advance to State Semifinals Today
WEYMOUTH, MA — (Feb. 11, 2012)
Leave it to the underclassmen.

Barnstable High School 8th grade phenom Michael Botello and BHS junior co-captain Will Henson advanced last night to today's semifinal round of the 2012 MIAA DIvision 1 Individual State Tournament, putting the dynamic duo in position to vie for a state championship title in their respective weight classes.

Botello, competing in the 106-lb. division, defeated Andover's Tyler Ferris by pin at 1:50 of their match-up. He followed that win with a 4-3 victory over Franklin's Ben Zigby and in so doing advanced to today's bout versus Agawam's Brennen Liebel.

Henson, who soared this season above the 100-career victories mark, pinned Waltham's Alan Carias at 0:30 in the opening round of the 170-lb. division, then went on to devour Chelmsford's Ben Melisi, 9-2. Henson faces Lexington's Ray Stebbins today in the semifinals.

Barnstable's Owen Murray, a freshman battling in the tough 220-lb. class, defeated Algonquin's Albert Marsocci by pinning him at 2:38, but then fell to Peabody's DJ Henrick, 11-3, in the quarterfinals.

BHS sophomore Colby McWilliams, competing in the 132-lb. division, fell in the opening round, 16-3, to Edgado Rios of Lawrence High School.

Henson, Murray, Botello and McWilliams Head to States

WEYMOUTH, MA — (Feb. 10, 2012) An enduring, tough-to-beat foursome of Barnstable Red Raider wrestlers will lace 'em up this afternoon at the MIAA State Individual Tournament at Weymouth High School in hopes of bringing home an individual state title.

BHS junior co-captain Will Henson (170), freshman Owen Murray (220), 8th grader Mike Botello (106) and sophomore Colby McWilliams (138) each qualified last week at the Division 1 South Sectionals in Fall River, with Henson taking the Division 1 crown at 170 lbs. The match-ups begin today at 4:15 pm and end tomorrow night at 8:00 pm.

Henson Crowned Div. 1 South Sectional Champion

FALL RIVER, MA — (Feb. 5, 2012) If there was ever any doubt who was tops in the 170-lb. division in Southeastern Massachusetts, then all doubts were erased last night as Barnstable High School junior co-captain Will Henson went unbeaten at B.M.C. Durfee High School and came home as the Division 1 South Sectional Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Joining Henson - who went 4-0 yesterday in the MIAA Division 1 South Sectionals - next weekend in Reading at the individual state championships will be BHS 8th grader MIke Botello (106) who came in third place, freshman Owen Murray (220), third place, and sophomore Colby McWilliams who finished in 4th place in the 138-lb. division.

Henson is only the sixth Red Raider to be crowned a South Sectional Champion since the BHS Wrestling program's inception. He joins former Red Raider champions Sean Donahue (2011), Nick Kidd (2008), Thiago Hoffman (2008), Alex Glenn (2006 & 2007) and Gonzalo Sanz (2005).

Henson is the first BHS wrestler to ever be crowned a Division 1 South Sectional Champion in the 170-lb. class, perhaps one of the most difficult classes to achieve success in state high school wrestling. He is currently ranked number two (2) in the state by masswrestling.com.

Red Raiders Shatter School Record — Sweep Super Quad Meet

KINGSTON, MA — (Jan. 28, 2012) Never underestimate the power of determination.

Backed by superlative, undefeated performances from junior co-cpatain Will Henson, the McWilliams brothers - Colby and Charlie - Cam Dixon and freshman phenom Owen Murray (220), Barnstable swept a "Super Quad" meet at Silver Lake Regional High School yesterday, taking down all four opponents - host Silver Lake, BC High, Hanover and Assabet Valley Regional.

Henson (170), Colby and Charlie McWilliams, DIxon and Murray each went 4-0 on the day as the Red & White ended at 15-6-1 thus far this season. The record marks the most wreslting team wins in school history and the most wins by a Red Raider wrestling team since 2007. The previous mark for most wins was 12 (2006-07).

Mike Botello (106), Kyle Traver (113), Luke Vincente (120) and Tim Omerzu (285+) all went 3-1 on the day to add to Barnstable's superior output. BHS defeated host Silver-Lake, 52-30, BC HIgh, 54-24, Hanover, 42-39 and Assabet Valley, 59-38.

The Red Raiders last home meet will be Wednesday (Feb. 1) night in Hyannis and then it's onto the South Sectionals. Wednesday night is also Senior NIght at BHS.

Seamus Murray (182), Jeff Underhill (182), Junior Adolfo (152) and Donnie Mach (160) all won individual matches for the Red & White to cap off the day.

Barnstable Pins Down Bristol County Ag-Tech on the Mats

HYANNIS, MA — (Jan. 25, 2012) It only took 50 seconds for junior co-captain Will Henson to pin his opponent squarely on the mat last night at Barnstable High School.

The Red Raider 170-pounder, who has just one loss this season, now has 105 career victories to his credit after helping lead the Red & White to a 42-12 victory last night over visiting Bristol County Ag-Tech.

The Red Raiders are now 11-6-1 on the season.

Other big victories came from heavyweight Tim Omerzu, a sophomore, freshman Owen Murray (220), sophomore Colby McWilliams (132) and his little brother Charlie McWilliams (126). All of those victories were by pin.

Wins by forfeit were credited to Mike Botello (113) and senior Luke Vincente (120).

BHS Grapplers Fare Well in Cape Cod Invitiational Tourney

SANDWICH, MA — (Jan. 22, 2012) They might not quite resemble Grantland Rice's classic version of the Four Horsemen of Notre Dame, but these four Red Raiders sure know how to get it done on the mats.

Once again, Barnstable High School's top four victors included Mike Botello (106), Charlie McWilliams (126), WIll Henson (170) and Owen Murray (220), as the quartet were crowned individual champions in this weekend's Cape Cod Invitational High School Wrestling Tournament. Their efforts helped lead the Red & White to a second place finish behind Plymouth North. BHS finished with 161 team points, while Nauset finished in third place at 158. The Blue Eagles captured the tourney title with 206.5 points and Sandwich, the tournament host, fell at fourth place with 99 points.

Botello, an 8th grader, defeated Sandwich High's Jacob Healy. McWilliams, a freshman, downed Tyler Kavoogian of the Beaver Country Day School. Henson, a junior co-captain, defeated Silver Lake Regional's Brad Carley. Murray, a freshman, beat Plymouth's Tony Tavernelli. The Red Raiders get back into regular dual meet action this week.

Red Raiders Crowned Old Colony League Champions!

HYANNIS — (Jan. 16, 2012) As they say in the sports world, "A win is a win."

Although it had only the Taunton Tigers to defeat to capture OCL Championship bragging rights, due to Bridgewater-Raynham forfeiting its slated appearance, the Barnstable High School boys wrestling team did last night what it has not done since 2007 - it captured the league crown.

Thanks in large part to junior co-captain Will Henson's 101st career victory, an impressive pin over his Taunton rival in the 170-lb. division, BHS downed the visiting Tigers, 51-21, then followed with a win over non-league opponent Carver, 21-6. Carver had been on the docket from an early-season invite, but B-R forfeited due to its coach being fired for an alleged hazing incident. BHS now stands at a respectable 10-6-1 on the season.

While Henson now stands as the number two 170-pounder in the state (MassWrestling.com), it wasn't all about the scrappy, hard-charging junior.

Eighth grader Michael Botello (106) continued his torrid campaign on the varsity mats, staging a 2-0 mark on the day, including a gutsy performance versus Carver's Aiden McGrath, the fifth-ranked wrestler in Massachusetts at 106-lbs. Sophomore Colby McWilliams also turned things up a notch with a pair of victories against no losses, defeating his opponents in both the 132 and 138-lb. divisions.

Other Red Raiders who hoisted the OCL crown to the rafters included Kyle Traver (106), Charlie McWilliams (126), Seamus Murray (182), Rich Carter (195), frosh Owen Murray (220), and the big man, Tim Omerz, at 285. Mike Bertucci (145) and Kyle Rumberger (152) also stood victoriously once the dust settled last night, at 1-0.

In spite of B-R's absence, the victory was uplifting to the squad as it overcame the loss of injured teammates, Lucas Junkin, senior captain, Sean Ford and C.J. Botello.

Barnstable Takes Down Everett, Pathfinder Regional

WATERTOWN — (Jan. 14, 2012) The Red Raiders got back on track yesterday on the road, collecting a pair of victories against just one loss in a Quad Wrestling Meet in the city.

Barnstable now stands at 8-6-1 on the season after defeating the Everett Crimson Tide, 54-24, Pathfinder Regional, 54-21 and lost to host Watertown, 39-33.

Junior co-captain Will Henson notched his 100th career victory in the meet as he went 2-1, while teammates Mike Botello (106), Casey Connor (113), Charlie McWilliams (125), Colby McWilliams (138) and Seamus Murray (182) also went 2-1.

Freshman Owen Murray (220), senior Richie Carter (195), Tim Omerzu (295+), Cam Dixon (220) and Donnie Mach (160) were the only Red Raiders to go undefeated on the day, Murray and Carter both went 3-0, Omerzu went 2-0 and Dixon and Mach went 1-0.

Kyle Rumberger (160), sophomore Luke Vicente (120) and Mark Monroe (145) each notched victories as well.

Henson, Botello Continue to Dominate, But Red Raiders Fall

HYANNIS — (Jan. 11, 2012) Barnstable High School junior co-captain Will Henson (170) staged yet another impressive victory by pinning his opponent last night as the Red & White grappled with state-powerhouse New Bedford. Utlimately, the visiting Whalers would claim a 57-21 victory in this affair, but Henson's pin gave evidence once again that he is one of the top two or three wrestlers in the state.

Of equal note was BHS 8th grader Mike Botello who also claimed a win by pin in what some Red Raider fans deemed a "truly impressive outing." Botello's continued efforts have him ranked as the 4th best wrestler in the state in the 106-lb. division.

Of no less importance were victories by Kyle Rumberger (162) in what very well could be characterized as his best career performance and victory, as well as a grind-it-out win by decision for freshman Charlie McWilliams (126).

BHS frosh Owen Murray, competing at a hulking 220-lbs., is currently ranked the top freshman in Massachusetts in that division. BHS (5-5-1) heads to Watertown Saturday for a Quad Meet with the hosts, Everett High School and Pathfinder Regional.

Red Raiders Stage Fine Performance at Whitman-Hanson

WHITMAN — (Jan. 7, 2012) Barnstable High School junior co-captain Will Henson (170) continued his dominance of opponents yesterday at the Whitman-Hanson Invitational Wrestling Tournament by going 4-0, as did 8th grade teammate Mike Botello (106), to help pace the Raiders to a 4th place team finish.

Botello's older brother C.J. wrapped up a second place performance in his division (125), as did freshman Charlie McWilliams (132) — both boys went 3-1 on the day. McWilliams' older brother Colby (138) also went 3-1 as did freshman Owen Murray (220) to take third place honors.

Barnstable has participated in three tournaments since Dec. 27 and now sets its sights on New Bedford next Saturday (Jan. 11) as it resumes its regular dual-meet slate.

Ostrom Victory Inspirational to Team, Despite Loss to Durfee

HYANNIS — (Jan. 4, 2012) The evenings lately at BHS wrestling meets have been melancholy at best, but if anything served to lift the spirits of the gutsy Red Raider mat men, then it was last night's pin to defeat his Durfee opponent by senior co-captain Kevin Ostrom.

Ostrom, who has wrestled for four winters for the Red & White, took an exceptional and heart-wrenching blow last week with the tragic loss of his father, Gary Ostrom, in a fatal car accident near the Cape the early morning after Christmas. An avid and skilled sportsman and commercial fisherman who garnered numerous awards for his work in the lobster industry, Ostrom was openly proud of his three sons, particulary wrestling captain Kevin.

As Kevin's match in the 170-lb. division Wednesday night came to a decisive close (he pinned his Durfee opponent), he pointed to the sky in deference and respect for his late father.

Joining Ostrom in victory last night were teammates Owen Murray (220), Junior Adolfo (152), Colby McWilliams (138) - all by pin - and Will Henson (182) and C.J. Botello (126).

The Red & White head to Whitman-Hanson this Saturday and now stand at 5-4-1 on the 2011-12 campaign.

Botello Brothers & Capt. Henson Crowned Tourney Champs

MIDDLEBORO — (Dec. 31, 2011) While the Barnstable Red Raiders finished 5th out of 12 teams in this weekend's MIddleboro Tournament, just a few points behind 4th place Scituate, the Botello Brothers, C.J. and Mike, captured tournament championship honors as did junior co-captain Will Henson at 126, 106 and 170 lbs. respectively.

A very strong Norton High School team captured the tournament championship title followed by Nauset, Oliver Ames, Scituate and then Barnstable.

Place winners for Barnstable were Sophomore. Seamus Murray (182), 6th place; Sophomore Tim Omerzu (285), 5th place; Senior Stefan Tavares (285), 4th place; Freshman Owen Murray (220), 2nd place; 8th Grader Mike Botello (106), 1st place; Sophomore CJ Botello (126), 1st place; and junior co-captain Will Henson (170), 1st place.

Henson also took home the Outstanding Wrestler Award voted on by all the coaches. The award was well -deserved considering Henson dominated a tough, top ranked opponent in the finals whom he had lost to in a quadruple overtime thriller last year.

Henson, C.J. Botello Go Unbeaten at Marshfield Tournament

MARSHFIELD — (Dec. 29, 2011) Red Raider junior co-captain Will Henson (170) and sophomore C.J. Botello (126) went 5-0 and 4-0, respectively, in yesterday's finish of the Marshfield Holiday Tournament and helped pace Barnstable to a 13th place finale out of the 32 varsity teams that competed there.

Freshman Owen Murray (220) took a fifth-place finish in his division as he ended up at 4-2, while Botello's little brother Mike Botello (106), an 8th grader, went 3-2. Colby and Charlie McWilliams finished at 1-2 with Colby, a sophomore, competing in the 136-lb. class and Charlie at 132 lbs. Senior Stefan Tavares finished at an even 2-2 at 285 lbs., as did senior co-captain Lucas Junkin (182).

Red Raiders Take Next Step in Marshfield Holiday Tourney

MARSHFIELD — Barnstable fared well last night (Dec. 27) at the Marshfield Holiday Tournament and sent five Red Raiders to Day Two of competition.

Barnstable sophomore CJ Botello (126 pounds) and junior captain Will Henson (170) are all in the championship bracket today. Henson won three matches while Botello went 2-0.

Barnstable eighth grader Michael Botello (106), senior Lucas Junkin (182) and freshman Owen Murray (220) are vying for third place in their respective weight classes.

Ford's Pin Proves Critical in Red Raider Win Over Nauset

HYANNIS — Had 8th grader Sean Ford been pinned last night by his opponent, the Red Raiders very well may have ended up with their second tie in a week.

But in what could only be deemd as a gutsy match, in a gym brimming with noise and excitement, Ford ended up pinning his Nauset opponent last night and the Red & White rose victoriously over the visiting Nauset Warriors, 48-36.

This mat battle had been pre-billed by fans as a potential battle royale and both teams did not disappoint fans.

Combining with Ford's victory were seven other Barnstable grapplers who notched wins, including freshman Charlie McWilliams (120), 8th grader Mike Botello (106), older brother C.J. Botello (126), senior co-captain Kevin Ostrom (160), junior co-captain Will Henson (170), Rich Carter (195) and freshman Owen Murray (220).

Carter's win was also pivotal in Barnstable's effot to accumulate more points than the esteemed Warriors' team.

BHS now stands at 5-3-1 on the season while Nauset falls to 3-2-0. Next week, BHS heads to the Marshfield Holiday Tournament.

Red Raiders Down Xaverian, But Fall to Brockton, Braintree

BROCKTON — The Red Raiders were so close.

After defeating Division 1 powerhouse last year, the Barnstable wrestlers almost pulled it off a second time yesterday, but fell just one pin shy of a repeat victory over the host Boxers in a quad meet that saw Barnstable defeat Xaverian, but also fall to Braintree.

The Red Raiders, now 4-3-1 on the season, downed Xaverian, 51-30, but fell to Brockton, 42-34 and Braintree, 50-29.

Tomorrow night doesn't promise to be much easier for the Red & White as they host the always tough Nauset Warriors.
BHS sophomore C.J. Botello (132 pounds) and little brother Mike (106), an eighth-grader, went 3-0 as did junior co-captain Will Henson (170) and freshman Owen Murray (220) in Saturday's quad meet.

BHS Grapplers End in Tie With Plymouth North Blue Eagles

(Dec. 14, 2011) NORTH PLYMOUTH — For casual observers it may have seemed like a neutral finale, but for the hard-charging Barnstable wrestlers a 39-39 comeback tie with the host Plymouth North Blue Eagles was well-earned.

A pair of gutsy pins in the last two match's of the meet by freshman Owen Murray and sophomore Timmy Omerzu ensured the Red Raiders would not go home on the losing side of things. Both wrestlers are also offensive linemen for the Barnstable High School football program, with Murray wrestling this winter in the 220-lb. class and Omerzu in the unlimited heavyweight division. Both young men pinned their opponents to bring Barnstable from behind in the points tally to make it 39-39.

Five other Red Raiders notched victories as well, including C.J. Botello (132), sophomore Colby McWilliams (138) and junior co-captain Will Henson (182). Charlie McWIlliams, a freshman and younger brother of Colby, picked up a 4-2 win in the 126-lb. class will CJ Botello's little brother Michael Botell, an 8th grader, notched a win by forfeit in the 108-lb. class.

Barnstable now stands at 2-1-1 on the season.

The Red Raiders head Saturday to Brockton High School to compete in a Quad Meet with host Brockton, Braintree and Xaverian.

Red Raiders Hit The Mats Hard to Open 2011-12 Campaign

The Barnstable High School varsity wrestlers wasted little time this weekend showing they are once more the team to beat.

The Red Raiders took third place out of eight teams Saturday (Dec. 10) at the Robert Krzyszton Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Bristol County Aggie Tech in Dighton. Barnstable defeated Josiah Quincy, 54-30 and Dean Technical, 54-22, but fell to Canton, 42-37. The Red & White also picked up a forfeit win versus Josiah Quincy in a second match-up.

Barnstable grapplers who cruised through the tournament without a loss included 8th grader Mike Botello (106), freshman Charlie McWIlliams (126), sophomore C.J. Botello (132), junior co-captain WIll Henson (170) and frosh Owen Murray (220).

Red & White matmen who took home 2-1 marks for their efforts included sophomore Colby McWilliams (138), Sean Ford (152), Jack White (152) and Lucas Junkin (182).

Heavyweight Timmy Omerzu, Kyle Travers (113), Luke Vicente (120), Junior Adolfo (160) each finished 1-2 while sophomore Seamus Murray went 1-0.

The Red Raiders hit the road again Tuesday to face the Plymouth North Blue Eagles (41 Obery Street, Exit 5, Plymouth, MA).

Red Raider Sophomore Wraps Up Fantastic Season

March 5, 2011 — Barnstable High School's WIll Henson, just a sophomore, concluded a brilliant and exciting season Saturday (March 5), finishing at 1-1 and in 12th place overall in the New England Championships in New Haven, CT.

Henson, who ended the 2010-11 campaign at 43-8, defeated Vermont's Jason Welch (Mount Anthony) by fall at 2:57, but then lost to Connecticut's Devin Covone (Bacon Academy) by a 6-2 decision. Henson is only the second Red Raider in school history to make it to the New England's behind former BHS star grappler Nick Kidd who took a 6th place finish in 2008 in the same division at 160 lbs.

Combined with last year's outstanding freshman campaign when he went 29-7, Henson stands at 72-15 over the course of his first two seasons on the Red Raider mats. Coincidentally, Kidd, a senior at New Hampton Prep, was recently crowned a national champion.

Henson Qualifies for New Englands, Takes 4th at All-States

February 25, 2011 — Barnstable High School sophomore WIll Henson defeated three consecutive top dogs in Division 1 Friday (Feb. 24) and yesterday in the 160-lb. class, before bowing down to wrestlers from Shawsheen Tech and Central Springfield, but the tough as nails Red Raider's performance was good enough for fourth place overall.

Battling for an All-State title at Salem High School this weekend, Henson defeated opponents from Whitman-Hanson, Bridgewater-Raynham and Weymouth before advancing to the semifinals where he fell twice, but still wrapped things up nicely with a 3-2 record for his efforts.

Henson Goes 4-2 in State Championship Bid, Donahue Falls

February 19, 2011 — Barnstable High School sophomore WIll Henson finished Friday's (Feb. 17) MIAA Div. 1 Individual State Championships in fourth place overall in the 160-lb. division, going 2-1 on the first day and 2-1 yesterday, but Sectional Champion Sean Donahue, a Red Raider senior, fell in an 11-3 major decision to Franklin's Dillon Gallagher in the prelimnary consolation round and was eliminated from further competition.

Henson's 4-2 mark in the two-day affair included an 11-4 major decision over St. John's Prep's Jamie Morey, a 12-3 loss by pin at 2:13 to Central's Anthony Brooks and a 6-0 win by pin over Plymouth South's Dillon Reilly, all on day one.

On Day Two, Henson again went 2-1, beating Lawrence's Marionel Garcia in a 7-4 decision, as well as Newton South's Albert Chang, 9-2, before falling to Shawsheen's Jesse Dillon in the consolation match. Henson's 4th place showing, however, qualified him for next weekend's MIAA All-State Wrestling Championships to be held at Salem High School.

Red Raider senior co-captain Peter Bertucci went 0-2 overall on the first day and was also eliminated.

Donahue Crowned Division 1 South Sectional Champion

Henson, Bertucci, Botello Also Heading to State Individual Championships

February 13, 2011 — Barnstable High School senior Sean Donahue became the sixth Red Raider of all-time to be crowned a Division 1 South Sectional Individual Champion Saturday, when he took first place in the 140-lb. division at the individual sectionals in Weymouth. The last Red Raiders to be crowned individual South Sectional champions were Thiago Hoffman (152) and Nick Kidd (160) in 2008. Alex Glenn captured back-to-back South Sectional championship titles in the 215-lb. division in 2006 and 2007 and Gonzalo Sanz was the first-ever Red Raider to be crowned a South Sectional champion in 2005, also in the 140-lb. division.

Donahue will vie for the individual State Championship next weekend in Methuen.

Other Red Raiders who had top finishes and who will be joining Donahue in a quest for a state title were senior co-captain Peter Bertucci (171), who took third place, sophomore Will Henson (160), who took second place and freshman CJ Botello (130) who took fourth place.

BHS 8th grader Charlie McWilliams (112) nabbed an alternate's position at next week's state championships with his fifth place finish. Older brother Colby McWilliams (119), a freshman, and senior co-captain Jordan Kraus both finished in sixth place in their respective divisions.

Victory Over Durfee Sets BHS All-Time Mark for Most Wins in a Season

February 6, 2011 — Although four Red Raider grapplers went unbeaten yesterday afternoon at Durfee High School, the Barnstable team as a whole finished in 7th place at the MIAA Div. 1 South Sectional Team Tournament, in effect ending what could only be deemed a spectacular turn-around season in Dr. Peter Bertucci's second season at the helm.

Will Henson (160), Sean Donahue (145), senior co-captain Peter Bertucci (171) and freshman CJ Botello (125) each finished the meet at 3-0, but as a team Barnstable went 1-2. The Red Raiders defeated tournament host Durfee, 42-30, but lost to Brockton in a tightly contested match-up, 41-39, and perennial powerhouse Plymouth South, 48-28.

Junior Kevin Ostrom (160) was also unbeaten at 1-0, while senior co-captain Jordan Kraus (189), 8th grader Charlie McWilliams (112) and 8th grader Owen Murray (215) each went 2-1 on the day. Ryan Mecley went 1-2 in the 152-lb. division.

Barnstable's individual season, however, is not yet quite finished as the top-seeded Raider grapplers head to the Division 1 South Sectional Individual Meet next Saturday at Weymouth.

The victory over Durfee left Barnstable at 13-9 on the 2010-11 campaign, setting the school's all-time mark for most team victories in a season.

Red Raiders Devour Sandwich on the Road — Tune Up for Div. 1 Sectionals Saturday

February 4, 2011 — The BHS varsity wrestling team defeated the Sandwich High School Blue Knights on the road last night, 45-33, as the Red & White readied for this weekend's MIAA Division 1 South Sectional team meet at Durfee High School.

Barnstable also received wins by forfeit - for a total of 18 points on the night - from Charlie McWilliams (112), Colby McWilliams (119) and CJ Botello (125).

The victory matches the most wins in a season by the Red & White wrestlers in the program's history. The last time BHS won 12 meets was in 2007 when it went 12-9-1 and captured the Old Colony League championship title under former head coach and program founder Mike Magner.

BHS Grapplers Go 2-1 at Quad Meet at Silver Lake Regional High School

January 30, 2011 — Three Red Raiders went undefeated in a quad meet against Hanover, BC High and host Silver Lake yesterday afternoon. Barnstable defeated Hanover 48-19 and topped BC High 45-36 but lost a close one to host Silver Lake, 39-34

     The Raiders are now 11-7.

Competing at 112 pounds, 8th grader Charlie McWilliams went 3-0 while teammates Colby McWilliams (125 pounds) and Tim Omerzu (282) also won all three of their matches. Neil Duffy went 1-0 in the 119-pound division.

C.J. Botello (125) and Ben Henson (135) each went 2-1 for Barnstable. Ryan Mecley was 1-1 competing in two different weight classes.

BHS Splits Tri-Meet With Taunton & B-R; Four Red Raiders Named OCL All-Stars

Four Red Raider grapplers went unbeaten on the evening, though, and in so doing earned vaunted Old Colony League All-Star honors.
