Barnstable falls short vs Bridgewater at OCL Meet

HYANNIS- It just wasn't Barnstable's night, The OCL Champ title goes to Bridgewater-Raynham with a score of 51-21


The rescheduled meet took place in the field house and Barnstable (9-6)
took charge from the get-go but Bridgewater came back and dominated for most of the meet

Heavyweight Owen Murray (25-0) continued his undefeated streak as he made short work of Josh Gaucher (BR) and pinned him in the first period giving the Red Raiders a 6-0 lead, but Bridgewater shot off 3 pins in a row at the 106, 113 and 120 pound weight classes, making the score 18-6 (BR).. The Red Raiders got a much needed win at the 126 pound weight class as Junior, Casey Connor (26-7) pinned Dan Calabrese with a beautiful 3/4 nelson in the first period making the score 18-12 (BR)
Barnstable came close at the 132 pound weight class as John Goode put up a great fight but ultimately lost to Mike Skellet 8-4, Barnstable got another win at 138 pounds from Vinny Ciliberto, who shut out Brian Bettencourt 5-0 making the score 21-15 (BR)  The two teams exchanged wins at 145 and 152 pounds with Ben Potts losing to Nic Meyers 5-1 and Charlie McWilliams (23-4) took a forfeit for 6 team points making the score 24-21 (BR) The Red Raiders did not win another Match as the Trojans took charge in the upper weight classes with 5 wins in a row including 3 pins, a forfeit and a decision at the 220 pound weight class with Donnie Mach (25-5) losing a tough battle 5-0 against Willy Fuller

Barnstable will conclude their regular season and honor their senior wrestlers on Wednesday night at 7pm against Plymouth North before heading to Weymouth on Saturday to start the post season at the Division 1 South sectional tournament (top 4 wrestlers in each weight class move on to Division 1 State Tournament)
